1) Maccabi Tel Aviv BC signed forward Angelo Caloiaro who was last with Banvit in the Turkish League. The San Jose born Caloiaro scored 13.1ppg and added 5.0rpg in league play and has played in Germany, Bulgaria and Spain prior to his stop in Turkey. The new recruit told the Maccabi website, “I’m happy to join the Maccabi family. The Maccabi fans have made a name for themselves around Europe and I can’t wait to hear them cheering for us.” Coach Never Spahija added, “He has an amazing basketball IQ and he is a great teammate. His natural position is a stretch four and we think that he will fit our system.”

2) Here’s an interesting read about Amit Aharoni who plays on Israel’s Under-16 team which will compete in the Division A European Championships. His father Oren Aharoni also played for Israel while his uncle Gur Shelef at one time captained the Blue & White.

3) The Duke of Cambridge, Price William is in Israel and played a little bit of soccer today at an event hosted by the Peres Center for Peace in Tel Aviv. It’s the first time a member of the Royal Family is making an official visit to Israel and it’s pretty cool that the Prince took time out of his trip to play soccer with some children. It will certainly make an everlasting impression on the youngsters.
