The hosts playing at Haberfeld Stadium stunned Maccabi Tel Aviv as Almog Bozaglo scored a late header to decide the contest. Maccabi again had trouble scoring and will look to find some goals when they visit Kiryat Shemona on Wednesday night in the second leg of the Toto Cup Quarterfinal as the Yellow & Blue hold a 3:2 advantage on aggregate from their first leg match last month at the Netanya Stadium.
Beitar Jerusalem 0:1 Bמei Sakhnin
Ramzi Sfori scored in the 86th minute to help Sakhnin to yet another victory over Beitar in Jerusalem. Beitar has not been able to find a way to beat Sakhnin at home since 2010 and the loss puts coach Ran Ben Shimon under more pressure from the fans and management even though the side sits in 5th place.
Hapoel Haifa 2:1 Maccabi Petach Tikva
Cesar Julio and Hanan Maman scored two unanswered goals to score the comeback win over the visiting Petach Tikva. Leroy Tzeiri put Petach Tikva in the lead but Hapoel Haifa came storming back to pick up the three points. Adilson had been given his second yellow card of the evening in the 46th minute for Haifa but even with a man to the good Petach Tikva couldn’t find a way to draw even or win the contest.
Kiryat Shemona 4:1 Hapoel Ashkelon
The hosts received goals from both Shlomi Azulay’s plus a strike by Eden Shamir and a penalty via Ahmed Abed to defeat the visiting Ashkelon side 4:1. Lassina Dao scored the lone goal for the visitors as they were reduced to 10 men in the 76th minute due to Snir Mishan’s second yellow card good for a red. In the middle of the match, Owner Izzy Sheratzky announced his intention to let go coach Benny Ben Zaken and rehire Moti Ivanir who departed the club just under a month ago.
Ashdod 1:1 Maccabi Haifa
The hosts struck first thanks to a Din David goal but Roie Kehat answered for the Greens in the 40th minute as the sides split the points at the Yud Alef Stadium in Ashdod.
