The 83rd Edition of the Israel Athletic Championships began at Hadar Yosef Stadium in Tel Aviv. Diana Vaisman broke her own Israeli record in the 100 meters running 11.27. The 2 day event will culminate on Thursday night.

Maccabi Tel Aviv visited Cluj in first leg second round Champions League qualifying and fell 1:0 on a first half goal by Billel Omrani. The decisive second leg will take place next Tuesday at the Netanya Stadium as they will look to erase the Romanians advantage and advance to the third round where either Celtic or Kalju will be waiting.

At the Swimming World Championships in South Korea, Israel’s 4 x 100 meter team of Andi Murez, Tomer Frankel, Anastasia Gorbenko & Itay Goldfaden punched their ticket to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo! Since it’s a team sport, 2 of the swimmers still need to meet criteria A for the team to compete in Tokyo.

The Israel Women’s Lacrosse Team defeated Wales 8-5 and will face England for the European Championship title on Thursday night.

Transactions
Isaiah Cousins joined Hapoel Jerusalem on a 1-year deal after the guard played last season with the Salt Lake City Stars. The Oklahoma Sooners product will once again team up with Tashawn Thomas who played with Cousins during the 2014/15 campaign.
