Maccabi Tel Aviv defeated Hapoel Holon 94-83 as the yellow-and-blue improved their Israel Winner League record time a perfect 14-0. Deni Avdija was dominant all game as he earned MVP honors with a 22 point, 5 assist, 4 rebound and two blocked shot performance for Ioannis Sfairopoulos’s squad as Tyler Dorsey added 17 points and Quincy Acy and Othello Hunter each dropped 14 points in the win. Marcus Foster was almost unstoppable for Holon with 27 points in the defeat.
Hapoel Gilboa Galil surprised Hapoel Jerusalem 98-93 at Gan Ner in the Galilee. Oded Katash’s capital city side squad went up by 20 points, 35-15 in the second quarter but frittered away the advantage as a red hot Edgar Sosa couldn’t miss and scored 38 points to lead Lior Lubin’s team past the defending State Cup champs. In addition to Sosa’s scoring spree, Jarmar Gulley and Yiftah Ziv each dropped 18 points in the win. John Holland scored 19 points, while Idan Zalmanson and Tashawn Thomas each added 14 points in the defeat.
Ness Tziona slipped by Maccabi Rishon Le’Zion 79-75 at Beit Maccabi. Visiting Ness Tziona used a 23-13 first quarter and a near triple double by Tal Dunne to record the road win. Dunne scored 10 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and handed out 9 assists while Corey Fisher added 19 points in the victory. Alex Hamilton led the hosts with 24 points and 8 boards in the loss.
Nahariya disposed of Maccabi Ashdod 96-84 after holding the hosts to just 11 points in the third quarter after being all tied up at 47-47 at halftime. Travis Warech came back to haunt his former team with 21 points including four 3-pointers, while Niv Misgav and Jerel McNeal each scored 15 points in the win. Elijah Johnson and Stu Douglass scored 19 points a piece for Brad Greenberg’s squad in defeat.
Maccabi Haifa continued their ascent up the standings with a 95-80 win over Hapoel Beer Sheva. The Greens dominated the first half leading by 19 points, 48-29 after twenty minutes of play to cruise to the victory. James Young led Daniel Seoane’s squad with 24 points and 8 rebounds while Michael Brisker and Scott Suggs each dropped 15 points in the win. TJ Williams and John Petrucelli scored 18 points a piece in the loss.
Hapoel Eilat dominated Hapoel Tel Aviv 87-70 wire to wire at the Drive In Arena. The Red Sea City squad came out flying with five players notching double digits in the win as Rayvonte Rice led the way with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Kyvon Davenport added 15 points and Eric Thompson chipped in with 14 points for Arik Alfasi’s team. Latavious Williams was the Reds high scorer with 20 points and Tomer Ginat added 14 points for Ariel Beit Halachami’s side.
