Hapoel Tel Aviv cruised to a 95-78 victory over Hapoel Beer Sheva as the club’s big men Kyle Alexander, Jaylen Hoard and Idan Zalmanson set up shop in the paint where they scored early and often to the tune of 66 points to dominate the interior and take the win.
The game was marred before tipoff when a group of Hapoel Tel Aviv fans booed when a ceremony took place for bereaved families of security services personnel who were killed in the Hamas attacks of October 7th. Both the club and the League Administration out out statements condoning the disgraceful and disgusting behavior of the supporters.
Up next for Danny Franco’s team is a trip to Slovenia where they will play Ljubljana in EuroCup action.
Hoard led the way with 31 points, Zalmanson added 20 points and Alexander chipped in with 15 points in the win. Ira Lee paced the hosts with 15 points, Ron Zipper scored 14 points and Egor Koulechov added 13 points in the loss.
“We have a good connection in the lockerroom,” Franco said. “We know what we have in hand but we can even be better. We missed some of the guys who weren’t here for the game, but I am proud as to how those who were here played and I told them prior to the contest that we had enough talent to win this game which they did.”
