Hapoel Haifa dominates Hapoel Jerusalem 100-87 as the Carmel Reds cruise to the win

Hapoel Haifa dropped Hapoel Jerusalem 100-87 as the Carmel Reds controlled the game from the get go as they dominated the hosts with six players featuring in double digits and high energy play throughout the 40 minutes to notch the hard earned win. Elad Hasin’s squad jumped out to a 56-42 lead by halftime as Keenan Evans, Amit Simhon and Karam Mahsour shot lights out from beyond the arc to cruise to the victory.

Evans led the way with 23 points, Jason Siggers added 17 points, Karam Mashour chipped in with 15 points, Simhon checked in with 11 points and Lennard Freeman recorded a double double with 11 points and 15 rebounds. Suleiman Braimoh was Jerusalem’s high scorer with 17 points, Adam Ariel scored 15 points and Tamir Blatt scored 13 points in the loss for Dainius Adminaitis’s squad.

Hapoel Haifa’s star guard Keenan Evans opened the game with a triple from dead center, Lennard Freeman put down an uncontested jam while Hapoel Jerusalem’s J’Covan Brown and Evans traded 3-pointers and Amit Simhon put in a layup to give the visitors a 12-4 lead midway through the first quarter. Stanton Kidd found his first points of the game, Brown added a layup and Tamir Blatt went from downtown but points from Karam Mashour, Egor Nestrenko and a pair of triples by Simhon put Elad Hasin’s squad ahead 26-13 after ten minutes.

Adam Ariel went from deep twice to get the second quarter underway, Kidd added one from downtown but Ofek Avital and Mashour answered from long distance to keep the Carmel Reds up 35-26 with 7:04 left in the first half. Ariel came out of the timeout with a 3-pointer but Evans came right back with five quick points, Rakeem Buckles with a mega slam and Mashour with yet another 3-pointer gave Haifa a 47-31 advantage with under four minutes to go in the period. Suleiman Braimoh scored a pair of baskets in the paint but Jason Siggers scored his first points of the game and Evans added a gliding layup to give Haifa a 56-42 lead.

Thomas began the third quarter with a layup but Buckles came right back with a pair of 3-pointers at the other end of the court, Siggers scored an easy basket in the paint, as did Evans to give Haifa a 66-46 lead midway through the frame. Freeman and Nestrenko added uncontested points in the paint, Braimoh put in a floater but Evans went from beyond the arc to keep the visitors ahead 78-55 after thirty minutes.

Malcolm Hill scored his first field goal of the game to get the final frame underway, Siggers hit a jumper but Blatt went from from downtown as Jerusalem cut the lead to 80-64 with 7:36 remaining in regulation time. Siggers nailed a corner triple and a jumper, Chanan Colman scored his first basket since arriving back in israel, Zalmanson and Braimoh hit their free throws to narrow the gap to 87-75 with under 3 minutes to go.

Freeman cleaned up the boards for a bucket, but Ariel nailed a corner 3-pointer at the other end and Kidd found points at the charity stripe and then chalked up a triple but Simhon matched him with a wide open 3-pointer, Siggers scored a put back and hit his free throws to sew up the 13-point win.
