1) The UEFA Europa League held the first and second round qualifying draw and the opponents for three Israeli teams were determined. Maccabi Tel Aviv will face Hungarian side Ferencváros from Budapest, Beitar Jerusalem was drawn against Chikhura Sachkhere of Georgia and Hapoel Haifa who will enter the competition in the second round will play the winner of Lahti from Finland and Hafnarfjördur from Iceland. Should Maccabi advance to the second round they’ll play either Radnički Niš from Serbia or the winner of UE Sant Julià from Andorra or Gzira United of Malta while Beitar will face the winner of Partizani of Albania and Slovenian side Maribor.
2) Travis Warech signed with Hapoel Beer Sheva BC after playing this past season with Maccabi Ashdod and coach Brad Greenberg. Warech starred for the USA Maccabiah team that won the gold medal at the last edition of the competition and compete in Germany for a number of seasons before coming to Israel. The forward scored 5.3ppg and grabbed 3.2rpg in almost 20 minutes of play on average.
