1) Three Israeli soccer teams opened up their 2018/19 Season by playing abroad in European competitions this past week. Next week, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Beitar Jerusalem and Hapoel Beer Sheva all host continental foes at home. Check out my article in today’s Jerusalem Post about Club and Country!
2) The Israel U20 Basketball Team begins the European Championships in Chemnitz, Germany by playing the host’s on Saturday night at 9:15pm Israel Time. Last year the Under-20’s fell in the final to host Greece and brought home the Silver Medal under Coach Oded Katash. This year, Ariel Beit Halachmi has only 4 players who were on that team with him and beginning the tournament against Germany will be an early first test for the team which features Yovel Zoosman, Michael Brisker and Deni Avdija. 3) NBA Summer League
Kendrick Ray of Maccabi Tel Aviv scored 10 points in 23 minutes and committed 5 turnovers for the Jazz.
Bogdan Bliznyuk of Bnei Herzliya played 6 minutes and scored 2 points for the LA Clippers.
TJ Cline of Hapoel Holon scored 3 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 17 minutes for the Bucks.
