Israel Baseball wrapped up a tidy two game sweep of Lithuania with a 12-2 and 15-0 win to advance to the European Championships in September. The tournament will take place in Bonn, Germany as the blue-and-white will be in a group with Holland, Germany, Czech Republic, Sweden and Great Britain. Should Israel finish in one of the top 5 spots of 12 they will then move on to the Europe/Africa Olympic qualifier where one team will punch their ticket to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The Toto Cup competition was in full swing over the weekend. Hapoel Raanana defeated Hapoel Tel Aviv 2-1 on a winner by Ido Levy, Beitar Jerusalem needed an injury time goal by Gaetan Varenne to drop pesky Nes Tziona drew 2-1, Maccabi Netanya beat Hapoel Haifa 2-0 and Kiryat Shemona slipped by Hapoel Hadera 2-1.
On the Judo mat, Tohar Butbol won his first ever goal medal in the 73kg category at the Zagreb Grand Prix giving the blue-and-white yet another medal hope going into 2020 while Peter Paltchik (-73kg) won a bronze.
