Maccabi Tel Aviv easily disposed of Alba Berlin 104-78 at Yad Eliyahu to win their fifth straight Euroleague game in a row. After a close first quarter the Yellow & Blue began to pull away thanks to great shooting by and intelligent inside play but it was Captain John Dibartolomeo who out the cherry on top of the victory with his Euroleague high of 19 points (3/4 from 3) to take home the MVP honors.
Scottie Wilbekin added 16 points (4/7 from 3), Tarik Black scored 13 points and added 4 steals, Tyler Dorsey clocked in the 12 points and Omri Casspi dropped 10 points in the win. Tyler Cavanaugh and Peyton Siva each scored 14 points while Rokas Giedraitis chipped in with 12 points in the loss.
Red hot Scottie Wilbekin got things going for Maccabi with a floater in the lane and a triple as the Yellow & Blue grabbed a 11-4 lead midway through the first quarter. Tarik Black worked the inside for six points but Jonas Mattisseck drilled home a 3-pointer as did Niels Giffey to keep Alba close, down by just a pair, 21-19.
Ioannis Sfairpoulos’s squad ripped off ten straight points to start the second quarter as Tyler Dorsey hit a triple, Hunter scored two from inside the paint and Elijah Bryant hit one from deep as well to give the Yellow & Blue a 31-21 lead just two minutes into the second quarter. Dorsey and Bryant continued to score while Rokas Geidraitis answered for Alba but Wilbekin stroked another three, hit a layup and went from way, way downtown to give the hosts a 52-37 halftime advantage.
Black got the third quarter off to a thundering start with a massive dunkaroo while Wilbekin did what he does best, score from beyond the arc as Omri Casspi picked up the pace for Maccabi to give his side a 66-46 lead midway through the the frame. John Dibartolomeo got into the act with a trio of triples and Yovel Zoosman played stifling defense as the Yellow & Blue went up by 28 points, 83-55 at the end of thirty minutes.
John D scored a pair of circus act layups to kick off the fourth quarter while Deni Avdija also found the basket as Maccabi rolled to a 104-78 victory.
