Maccabi Tel Aviv BC to face Eilat in Winner Cup Final

The Basketball Super League Winner Cup is taking place as eight teams participated in this year’s knockout style tournament. Maccabi Tel Aviv will face Hapoel Eilat in the final that will take place on Monday evening.

The competition opened up in Thursday as Rishon Le’Zion defeated Hapoel Holon at the brand new Holon Arena 80:65. Mark Lyons scored 14 pts while Tony Younger and Chris Wright chipped in with 12 a piece for the victors. Holon received 20 points from Will Clyburn and 13 from Isaac Rosefelt in the loss.

Earlier in the day Maccabi Tel Aviv easily defeated an overmatched Nes Ziona 84:54 with former NBA star Jordan Farmar supplying the offense with 23 points, going 7/10 from 3-point land. Youngster Dragan Bender scored 11 points in 11 minutes while Tyler Rochestie added 8 assist in the win. Fuquan Edwin scored 13 points in the loss for Nes Ziona.

On Friday Hapoel Eilat took care of Maccabi Haifa 83:75 as six Eilat players scored in double digits including Khalif Wyatt, Alade Aminu, Amit Simhon, CJ Leslie, Afik Nissim and Kevin Palmer. Rene Rougeau led Haifa with 18 points.

The late Friday afternoon match pitted defending League Champions and Cup Holders Hapoel Jerusalem against Hapoel Tel Aviv at the Drive-Inn Arena in Tel Aviv as the “home” side came away with the 72:66 win. Chris Evans led the way for Tel Aviv with 18 points as Robert Rothbart added 15 points and Talor Battle 14. For Jerusalem Donta Smith scored 18 points and Lior Eliyahu chipped in with 12 points.

On Saturday night Hapoel Eilat made it to the Winner Cup Final by taking care of Hapoel Tel Aviv 91:83 on the help of Khalif Wyatt’s 19 points and 16 a piece by Kevin Palmer and CJ Leslie. Raviv Limonad tried his best to keep his team in the match dropping 22 points but it wasn’t meant to be.

In the nightcap Maccabi Tel Aviv eliminated Rishon Le’Zion by a 95:89 score. Devin Smith scored 18 points and added 9 rebounds while Tyler Rochestie put in 18 points of his own to lead the way for a red hot Yellow-and-Blue. Sean Dawson scored 20 points in the loss for Rishon.
