Maccabi Tel Aviv dominated an overmatched Hapoel Holon 103-65 as Deni Avdija once again paced the yellow-and-blue with 18 points. Amare Stoudemire turned back the clock with 15 points in 20 minutes of play and Jake Cohen added 16 points in the win. Jimmy Hall scored 19 points and added 8 boards for Holon in the loss.
Hapoel Jerusalem defeated Maccabi Rishon Le’Zion 93-86 for their second victory in a week over the wine city squad. Tamir Blatt and John Holland kept the Reds in front for the majority of the contest while a game Zach Hankins and D’Angelo Harrison kept it close throughout the 40 minutes of action. However, Emanuel Terry’s big fourth quarter helped Jerusalem to the seven point win. Blatt scored 21 points and dished out 10 assists in an MVP performance, John Holland added 20 points while Emanuel Terry scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. D’Angelo Harrison led Rishon with 22 points and 8 rebounds and Zach Hankins chipped in with 20 points in the defeat.
Hapoel Beer Sheva squeaked by Nes Ziona 85-83 in a tight game at Lev Hamoshava. Terrific games from Caleb Agada, Evan Bruinsma and Spencer Weisz led Rami Hadar’s squad to their second win in as many games. With the score 85-83 and seven seconds remaining Weisz could have iced the game from the line, but the Beer Sheva Captain Weisz, uncharacteristically missed his free throws setting up a final chance for the hosts to take the win. However, Golan Gutt missed a potential game winning triple as the southern reds escaped with the dramatic victory.
Caleb Agada and Evan Bruinsma each scored 19 points while Spencer Weisz and Joe Furstinger each added 14 points in the win for Beer Sheva. Cameron Oliver scored 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, JP Tokoto came close to a triple double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and Rayvonte Rice chipped in with 15 points.
Hapoel Eilat beat Maccabi Haifa 90-82 for their second win in a row since returning from the Coronavirus break. Ziv Ben Tzvi orchestrated the offense and put in another MVP performance while Rafi Menco and Jordan Caroline scored at will to power the Red Sea City squad. Ben Tzvi scored 14 points and added 11 assists, Menco led the team with 18 points and Caroline recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds for Eilat. Speedy Smith paced Haifa with 22 points while Jerai Grant scored 13 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in the loss.
Hapoel Gilboa Galil got by Hapoel Tel Aviv 82-81 in double overtime as Joe Thomasson scored a game winning 3-pointer to give Lior Lubin’s squad the hard earned victory. Thomasson led the Galilee team with 22 points, Akil Mitchell added 19 points and 14 rebounds, Michael Young notched 18 points and 12 rebounds while Iftach Ziv chipped in with 16 points and 9 assists. Talib Zanna led the Reds with 23 points and 15 boards and Jordan Davis scored 22 points in the defeat.
Nahariya downed Maccabi Ashdod 96-68 in the northern capital as Danny Franco’s team once again received a tremendous performance by newcomer Ivan Almeida for the second game in a row to pick up the win. Almeida scored 17 points, dished out 9 assists, grab 6 rebounds and recored 5 steals. Dominic Waters added 18 points and Diamon Simpson chipped in with 14 points in the win. Zac Cuthbertson led Ashdod with 19 points and 15 rebonds in the defeat.
