Maccabi bests Hapoel in Tel Aviv Derby, Haifa tops Haifa, Holon defeats Nes Ziona & More! Israel Hoops GD17 Highlights & Recaps!

Maccabi Tel Aviv dominated Hapoel Tel Aviv 84-74 in the city Derby that was never close. NBA Draft prospect Deni Avdija got the yellow-and-blue rolling with the club’s first seven points to send them on their way to the win. Quincy Acy, Elijah Bryant and Othello Hunter all finished the clash with 12 points a piece while Avdija, Scottie Wilbekin and Tyler Dorsey each scored 11 points in the victory. Latavious Williams led Hapoel with 23 points and 14 rebounds in the loss.

Hapoel Holon visited Nes Tziona and came away with a 87-78 victory. Veteran marksman Guy Pnini led the way for Stefanos Dedas’s squad with 18 points while hitting four 3-pointers. Marcus Foster added 15 points while TJ Cline scored 14 points in the victory. Tal Dunne led the way for the hosts with 18 points and 9 rebounds as Corey Fisher and Daequan Cook each scored 15 points in the loss.

Maccabi Haifa stunned Hapoel Jerusalem 95-87 by the Carmel Mountain. The Greens featured seven players in double figures as Gregory Vargas scored 15 points and added 14 assists while James Young notched 18 points in the win. Suleiman Braimoh led the Reds with 27 points as they now ready for a crucial Champions League contest against San Pablo Burgos on Wednesday.  

Nahariya defeated Hapoel Beer Sheva 87-74 as Diamon Simpson, Jerel McNeal and Dominic Waters all scored 13 points in the win while Tony Gaffney and Travis Warech each dropped 12 points. Danny Franco’s squad started off slow but came back strong in the second quarter to take the lead for good as the defense locked down in the second half to help lead the northern squad to the win.

Maccabi Rishon Le’Zion throughly dominated Hapoel Gilboa Galil 90-64 as 17-year old Noam Dovrat scored 18 points to star in the win. James Kelly added 20 points and Darryl Monroe chipped in with 15 points for Guy Goodes squad. Edgar Sosa led Gilboa Galil with 14 points.

Hapoel Eilat downed Maccabi Ashdod 98-87 at the port city to send Brad Greenberg’s team closer and closer to being relegated. Rayvonte Rice led Eilat with 24 points while Avi Ben Chimol added 12 points and 11 assists. LaDontae Henton scored 25 points for Ashdod in the loss.
