Hapoel Jerusalem hosts Prometey in Basketball Champions League Play In game 3 action on Thursday night (21:00) as the Reds will look to punch their ticket to the Round of 16 Group Stage. Yotam Halperin’s team downed the Ukrainian squad in game one a couple of weeks ago, 95-70 but came up short at Prometey where they fell 82-79 in overtime setting up the decisive do or die game three.
Should Jerusalem advance they will play in a group together with Cluj Napoca, Unicaja Malaga and Filou Oostende, however should they lose their continental campaign will be over for the 21/22 season.
Last game, Jerusalem committed an ungodly amount of 22 turnovers which was by far the biggest reason Halperin’s team fell setting up the winner take all game three. “We knew that is was going to be a tough game and we didn’t expect it to be like the first match of the series. They are an experienced team with a lot of tools and it’s not surprising that this series is going to three games.”
Veteran forward Suleiman Braimoh also looked back at the game that was and ahead to what the club expects ahead, “We committed way too many turnovers and we had some bad luck along with mistakes. We will come back and correct those and play our best basketball by coming in aggressive and I believe everything will be fine.”
“It was disappointing,” Itay Segev began. “But fortunately we have another game at home in front of our home crowd who will come and give us great support as we have a chance to win the series. We have to be more aggressive and prove that we belong in the next stage.”
Just as Segev explained that the home fans will play a big part in helping Jerusalem, Halperin also looked at the Reds faithful as being key to the team’s success, “We will come with all of our energy and we have plenty. Together with the fans at the Arena we can win the game and finish off the series.”
