Israel walloped Greece 75-58 as both Deni Avdija and Roman Sorkin led the blue-and-white to their second win in as many days in Eurobasket 2025 warmup action in Limassol, Cyprus. Greece controlled the pace of play early on as Tyler Dorsey and Kostas Antetokounmpo led the way to a slim 41-39 lead at halftime. But Roman Sorkin turned up the offense in the third quarter as Avdija and Tomer Ginat also finished in double digits while the defense held Greece to just 17 points in the second half as the blue-and-white ran away with the victory.

Avdija and Sorkin each scored 16 points while Ginat scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the win. Dorsey scored 12 points and Panagiotis Kalaitzakis put in 11 points in the loss.

Greece who came into the game without a quartet of their stars in Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kostas Sloukas, Kostas Papanikolaou and Konstantinos Mitoglou saw Tyler Dorsey and Panagiotis Kalaitzakis score early on while Deni Avdija answered for Israel. Kostas Antetokounmpo put in points as Roman Sorkin scored as well but the Greeks grabbed a 23-20 lead after ten minutes of play.

Thanasis Antetokounmpo put down a pair of dunks, Avdija and Dorsey traded triples, Tomer Ginat scored in the paint as did Avdija but a wide open Kostas Antetokounmpo under the basket jammed home a pair of buckets to give Greece a 41-39 advantage at halftime.

Bar Timor, Sorkin and Guy Palatin from deep put Israel in front as the third quarter got underway, Sorkin started to score at will inside including a huge rim rattler dunk to put Israel in front 56-49 after thirty minutes of action. Yovel Zoosman dialed up long distance to begin the fourth quarter, Ethan Burg on the inside as Carrington and Nimrod Levi scored from the outside, Nikos Chougkaz and Kalaitzakis both went from downtown, but Avdija put the final touches on the 17-point victory.

“I don’t want to talk about the win too much,” Israel Head Coach Ariel Beit Halachmi began. “But what we did well was that in the second half as we raised the level of our aggressiveness and from there things were a lot easier. We have to take everything in proportion and it’s still very early in terms of preparing for the Eurobasket. If we don’t play defense and win the battle of the boards we will not be able to win our games.”
