Israel falls to Montenegro 73-66 in hard fought battle at the Women’s European Championship Qualifiers

The Israel Women’s National Basketball team fell to Montenegro 73-66 in hard fought battle that saw the Blue & White pull ahead at the end of the third quarter by a point. However, Eli Rabi’s team couldn’t hold on in the final frame which ended 18-12 for the Montenegrins.

Alexandra Cohen led Israel with 21 points and 10 rebounds while Eden Rotberg added 14 points and Tel Lev 10 points in the tough defeat.

Head Coach Eli Rabi reflected on the game, “The players kept to the game plan better than I expected and all in all I am proud as to how we played despite the loss. We could have taken the win but now we have to prepare for the next game.”

Israel’s top scorer Alexandra Cohen also spoke about the contest that was, “I’m disappointed that we couldn’t pull this one out but I am really proud as to what the team did. We worked very hard the last couple of weeks and we really came prepared for this game that we really thought that we could win. We have another game in two days and we have to come focussed and like we did for this game as we played as a team.”
