Israel Basketball Gameday Two Roundup

Maccabi Kiryat Gat 79-88 Hapoel Jerusalem
Visiting Jerusalem may have been without Amare Stoudemire and Lior Eliyahu but that didn’t stop Jerome Dyson (21pts) and the rest of the Reds from putting on a show shooting a spectacular 68% from the field. Bar Timor added 15 points while Shawn Jones making his debut for Jerusalem picked up a double-double scoring 15 points while pulling down 10 rebounds. Tyshawn Taylor (28pts) and James Singelton (19pts/11rbs) kept the hosts competitive throughout the contest.

Maccabi Tel Aviv 95-77 Hapoel Eilat
Andrew Goudelock (22pts) and Sylven Landesberg (20pts) helped the Yellow & Blue to the victory over Eilat which saw the hosts shoot 52% 14/27 from 3-point land. Guy Pnini led the charge from beyond the arc going 5/6 while a returning Sonny Weems added 14 points in only 11 minutes of action. Sir’Dominic Pointer provided the visitors with 20 points on the night.

Ironi Nahariya 75-80 Hapoel Holon
Khaliff Wyatt (22pts) and Paul Delaney (20pts) provide the offense for Holon as they defeated Nahariya away in the northern city. Yancy Gates picked up 17 points and while Nick Faust (15pts) brought his team to within 57-56 in the third quarter it was not enough as Nahariya dropped to 0-2 while Holon moved to 2-0 on the young season.

Bnei Herzliya 87-79 Maccabi Haifa
Haifa kept it close for 30 minutes after arriving just 24 hours earlier from the USA but it wasn’t good enough as the hosts led by Tauren Green (24pts), Jeff Adrien (17pts/10rbs) and captain Karam Mashour were able to pull away in the final frame. Tony Mitchell (16pts) and new recruit Jarrid Famous (11rbs) tried valiantly to keep their team in the game but came up short.

Hapoel Gilboa/Galil 75-77 Maccabi Ashdod
In a close contest, Meir Tapiro’s club was able to take a close win thanks to a late 3-pointer by Yiftach Ziv (23pts) and strong play by Jake Cohen (17pts). Ashdod also was able to convert plenty of the 24 turnovers by Gilboa/Galil who received fine play by Murphy Holloway who finished the night with a double-double (23pts/14rbs)

Hapoel Tel Aviv 90-86 Maccabi Rishon Le’Zion
The Reds may have been behind at home for 3 quarters but a big game from Alando Tucker with 30 points (10/11 2-points) helped Hapoel to the come from behind victory. Anthony Hillard’s 25 points and Avi Ben Chimol’s 20 weren’t enough to keel their team in the lead in crunch time.
