After a fairly even first half of basketball that saw Rich Howell (20 points) and Lior Eliyahu (12 points) score 30 of the Reds 47 points, Maccabi closed down the inside while hitting their own outside shots to runaway with the 16 point victory. Pierre Jackson was the game’s MVP scoring 18 points while dishing out 10 assists while Jonah Bolden dropped 9 points, pulled down 12 rebounds picked up 2 steals along with a pair of blocked shots for the Yellow & Blue.
UNET Holon 92-86 Nes Ziona
UNET Holon staged a comeback in the 4th quarter and won by a score of 92-86. Holon was down by 7 points going into the last 10 minutes of the game but managed to outscore Nes Ziona by 13 points in the frame. Glen Rice Jr. guided Holon in the win racking up 25 points and 6 rebounds, TaShawn Thomas had a near double double scoring 20 points with 8 rebounds and Corey Walden chalked up 18 points with 4 rebounds. Nes Ziona was led in scoring by Gary Browne Ramirez and Tal Dunne who each had 17 points, Dunne also added 10 assists to end his night with a double double. Golan Gutt backed them up with 16 points and Talib Zanna recorded a double double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Hapoel Tel Aviv 95-86 Maccabi Rishon Le’Zion
Rishon Le’Zion led going into halftime by just 3 points but their small advantage didn’t last long as they were outscored by 6 points in the third frame and by 6 points again in the 4th which helped Hapoel Tel Aviv secure a 95-86 victory. Tony Gaffney on his return to Israel led Hapoel with 23 points and 5 rebounds, Raviv Limonad Helped him with 18 points while Adrian Banks and Jerel McNeal had 13 points each. Drew Crawford led the way for Rishon scoring 24 points and grabbing 5 boards, Mark Tollefsen recorded 13 points and Murphy Holloway added 11 points with 5 rebounds.
Nahariya 81-76 Maccabi Ashdod
A big 4th quarter by Nahariya helped them to the 5-point victory. Iftach Ziv scored 19 points, Jonathan Skjoldebrand added 14 points while Corey Webster dropped 13 points in the win. David Laury III led the way for the visitors with 21 points as Cameron Long added 13 points in the defeat.
Bnei Herzliya 74-99 Hapoel Gilboa/Galil
Gilboa/Galil ran out to a 32-19 lead after ten minutes and never looked back as they cruised to a 25 point win. Five players featured in double digits for the visitors as Zach LeDay (25P), D’Angelo Harrison (20P + 10R) and Ben Altit (19P) led the way to the victory. Shawn Dawson scored 24 points in the loss as Coach Mickey Gorka was relieved of his duties less than 24 hours after the loss.
Hapoel Eilat 81-86 Maccabi Haifa
The Greens took the lead from the get go as they defeated Eilat in Sharon Drucker’s debut of coach in the southern city. Angel Rodriguez scored 28 points while Willy Workman dropped 15 points in the win. Mike Rosario scored 27 points as Amit Simhon added 21 points in the loss.
