Maccabi Tel Aviv used a dominating first half to upend Hapoel Jerusalem 89-78 in the Israeli Classico at the Pais Arena in the capital city. Scottie Wilbekin was the star of the show with 18 points going 5/7 from beyond the arc, Johnny O’Bryant added 13 points, Tarik Black chipped in with 12 points while Jeremy Pargo and captain John Dibartolomeo scored 10 points in the win. J’Covan Brown and Josh Owens each dropped 15 points and James Feldeine scored 13 points in the loss.
Hapoel Holon needed overtime to defeat a pesky Nes Ziona 96-95 to win their 9th league game in a row. Shawn Jones with 21 points, Darien Atkins with 17 and Guy Pnini with 13 points led the way for Holon while Gary Browne-Ramirez’s 30 points and Daequan Cook’s 28 points topped the host’s. Dan Shamir’s visiting Holon took a 42-30 lead after twenty minutes thanks to Jones and led 72-50 in the 4th quarter. But Cook and Browne-Ramirez jump started the comeback and helped tie up the game at 82-82 on the latter’s triple with 16 seconds left in regulation. However, Holon was able to pull out the 1-point win as Shlomi Harush and Scottie Reynolds played key roles in the extra period to record the victory.
Hapoel Eilat demolished Hapoel Gilboa/Galil 107-74 in the Red Sea city. Sharon Drucker’s squad took a 28-18 lead after ten minutes as veteran point guard Avi Ben Chimol set the tone early on as Eilat never looked back in the 33 point victory. Suleiman Braimoh led the way for the hosts with 22 points, Idan Zalmanson scored 17 points, Elijah Bryant added 16 points while Ben Chmol chipped in with 14 points and 9 assists in the win. Ian Miller was the visitors top scorer with 28 points.
Maccabi Rishon Le’Zion defeated Bnei Herzliya 77-72 as both squads had trouble putting the ball in the basket with low shooting percentages throughout the 40 minutes of play. Rishon not only grabbed 54 rebounds but also had 32 points off the bench compared to just 6 by visiting Herzliya. Diamon Simpson led the way for Rishon with 16 points and 12 rebounds while Alex Hamilton added 15 points in the victory. Karam Mashour scored 20 points and Jeff Adrien chipped in with 19 points for Herzliya.
Hapoel Beer Sheva travelled to Maccabi Ashdod and took home a 99-84 win. After a close first half, the visitors took control of the contest as Rami Hadar’s sward ran away with the victory. Jordan Swing and Taylor Braun led the way for Beer Sheva with 22 and 20 points respectively while Kerron Johnson score 17 points and Terrence Watson added 15 points in a successful debut. Nimrod Levi who made his return to Ashdod scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the loss.
Hapoel Tel Aviv dropped Nahariya up north 80-59. The hosts ran out to a 22-17 lead after the first quarter but the Reds outscored the second to last place club 63-37 over the last thirty minutes to record the victory. Alade Aminu clocked in with a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds while Tomer Ginat scored 14 points and grabbed 13 boards to lead the way for Hapoel. Terry Allen scored for Nahariya in the loss.
