Brynton Lemar joined Hapoel Jerusalem on a two-year contract after having played for AEK Athens and Le Mans last season. Many remember the guard’s performances against the Reds when the two squads tipped-off against one another in the Basketball Champions League playoffs.
Lemar is a graduate of the University of California (Davis) and averaged 16.1 points with almost 39% from deep in his senior year. The 28-year old played in France, Poland, Russia and Turkey as well as in Italy before arriving in Greece for the balance of last season and averaged 15.7 points, 45.5% for 3 and 1.6 steals in BCL action.
“I am super happy to join Hapoel,” Lemar said to the official website. ”I am excited to bring my dynamic abilities to the floor and add my experience and qualities to the strong team that is already being built here. Of course, I remember the crazy atmosphere from game #3 when I was in the AEK uniform, and I am excited by the thought of the energy I will receive from our fans every night. I like to compete and fight and I know that you, the fans, will be by our side until the last moment for the common goal of all of us – to win titles”.
Coach Alexander Dzikic added, ”We were looking for a player who can play in several positions, on both sides of the field. Brynton is an enterprising player, very talented and always willing to help his teammates. He really wanted to be part of the work and we believe that it has a very great meaning”.
Sporting director Yonathan Alon said: “I am very happy that Brynton is joining us. He is a quality player who proved his abilities last season, will provide us with versatility and a lot of firepower. I’m sure it will fit in perfectly with what we’ve built so far.”
To find out more about Brynton Lemar, The Sports Rabbi was in touch with a number of his previous teammates to find out who the combo guard really is.
UC Davis Teammates:
Chima Moneke who recently signed with Baskonia: Great person, hard worker and a good locker room guy. If given the chance he can be one of the leading scorers on the team.
Siler Schneider: Brynton is one of the best teammates I’ve ever had and one of the best people I know. He’s ultra competitive and the definition of a winner. Love that guy and can’t wait to see him succeed.
Darius Graham: Brynton is my best friend and a guy I talk to all the time. What I can say about him is that he is an ultimate competitor in everything that he does, he is a relentless worker on his craft and genuinely loves what he does. He doesn’t care what happens on the court as long as his team wins. He is a funny guy, a caring guy, and genuinely a good person that will embrace the community that he’s in. He laid back and spends most of his time with his lovely wife or in the gym and he desperately wants to win a championship at the professional level!
Teammates at Caen:
Eddy Djedje: Brynton is a great guy, every-time with the smile, chill. He is an offensive player, a scorer and he can shoot in any position. He’s a really great player and his new team made a great choice.
Sebastien Cape: Brynton is a great guy really dedicated to the game and a true professional.
A big offensive threat that can give you a bucket any time you want.
Ibrahime Sidibe: He’s a nice guy, very humble and good good player. I like him a lot and I wish him the best cause he deserves it.
Teammate at Soproni Jon-Christofer Fuller: He’s a nice guy, professional, hard working and a complete player who can score at all three levels.
Teammates at Lublin:
Bartlomiej Pelczar: One of the best teammates I have ever had. Always together on away games, very funny guy. His work ethic and basketball knowledge is on very good level.
Damian Jeszke: Brynton is really great guy! As a teammate and of course as a player he came to Poland 2019/2020 I think after season in Hungary. He worked really hard on his game and always stayed after practice and improved his skills. To be honest I knew he was going to play in good leagues and I was right Russia, France, Italy. For me he is similar player to my ex-teammate in Israel CJ Harris. Fans of Hapoel will be happy to watch Brynton in action.
Teammate at Enisey Ivan Viktorov: He’s a good guy, a good teammate, he really loves basketball! I can’t say anything bad about him.
Teammates at Le Mans:
Marcus Gomis: Nothing but great things to say about my guy Brynton. He’s a great teammate, very vocal, always helps the younger guys. He’s always gonna try to give his best even if it’s hard and yeah he’s a great guy.
Raphael Djasrambaye: Brynton is a great worker, always there to give good advice and in a good mood. He is also a great teammate on and off the field.
Mathias van Den Beemt: I’d say that B is one of the nicest person I’ve ever meet off and on the court always willing to push the others to become better with some good vibes and energy and I even put him on a few of my songs in my playlist and that’s cool.
Josh Carlton: Great player, great teammate and even better person.
Noah Goudou-Sinha: Brynton is first of all a deeply kind, benevolent and very respectful man! He does not hesitate to share his knowledge with young people and he made me progress enormously. He is a player with a lot of maturity who is able to make the difference at any time! He has an offensive talent that is rare and above all he is a very hard worker, one of the hardest workers I have met, he is never satisfied! I wish him the greatest success in Jerusalem and I have no doubt that he will bring a lot of success, a lot of baskets and a lot of pleasure to the supporters!
Teammates at AEK:
Isaiah Miles: Very, very hard working player. My time playing with him wasn’t that long because he came in the middle of the season. But with the time we had, he was a very great player and person. He won a lot of big games for us single handedly.
Akil Mitchell: He’s a great guy I enjoyed playing with him. He can really score the ball. Very high character guy.
