Hapoel Eilat will take to their home court on Sunday at 6:30pm when they tipoff against Maccabi Ramat Gan. The Red Sea squad has had a tough run since returning to play with the loss of many of their top of the line imports in Tyrus McGee and Michale Kyser along with Israeli TJ Cline. However, head coach Max Menneti has brought in a number of new players including Sacar Anim.
The shooting guard has played well in his first five games in the Israeli League averaging 11.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists but has only been able to clock in at 29.2% from downtown going 7/24. Anim, who attended Marquette scored 13.1 points in his senior season back in 2019/20 before embarking on a professional career that has seen him play in Germany and Italy. Last season, Anim scored 9.5 points for Reggio Emilia as he now looks to continue his upward trend in the Holy Land.
To learn more about Sacar Anim, The Sports Rabbi was in touch with a number of his former teammates.
Marquette teammates:
Cameron Marotta: Sacar is the ultimate competitor. At Marquette he was someone we could count on to get us a big bucket as well as a stop on the defensive end. One of my favorite teammates and people I’ve ever been around. Hapoel Eilat got a good one!
Harry Froling: Sacar was one of the best team mates I played with, and was a no nonsense guy. He didn’t get the credit he deserved in college, and to see how he’s performed as a pro and taken his game to a new level has been exciting to watch. A glue guy, and a guy who can do a little bit of everything, I know that now he’s back from injury will be a great addition and exciting watch for the fans of Hapoel.
Beyreuth Teammates:
Moritz Sanders: He is a really nice guy off the court but fearless and energetic on the court! Always ready to go for the win and a threat to score at all time! I believe you‘ll have a lot of fun watching this guy go to work!
Philip Jalalpoor: First of all Sacar is a really good guy that I enjoyed having as one of my teammates. Very easy to get along with! He is very explosive and super difficult to defend especially in transition but also finds different ways to score in half-court. Has good length on the wing and good hands on defense so I think the team will enjoy having him there.
