Maccabi Tel Aviv shocked Monaco 91-88 as the yellow-and-blue ripped off a 9-0 run to close the game out and take the win. Monaco had been in pole position throughout the majority of the contest with Mike James, Elie Okobo and Daniel Theis leading the way, but Rokas Jokubaitis, Levi Randolph along with Roman Sorkin and Trevion Williams came up big down the stretch to snatch the win from the jaws of defeat.
Jokubaitis and Sorkin each scored 18 points, Randolph added 17 points and Williams scored 15 points in the win. James scored 26 points, Theis put in 16 points and Okobo scored 15 points in the loss.
“We played the right way and came into the game missing Jasiel Rivero and Jaylen Hoard,” Maccabi Tel Aviv Head Coach Oded Katash said. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy as Monaco are very athletic. We came into this game with a specific game plan and executed it. Even when we were down we stayed with it and I’m very proud for the guys. It feels great to win three in a row and it’s important for our confidence and we played better. But every time we have had a good run we have something happen and now Rivero is hurt as we are looking for a replacement.”

“With the defense we played we can’t win,” Monaco Head Coach Vasililis Spanoulis said. “They played tough and I hope that the injury to Theis is not serious. We missed shots and free throws and that decided the game.”
The game MVP Rokas Jokubaitis spoke about the win, “It’s a good feeling to record three wins in a row which we haven’t done often this saison but I’m happy for the team. We are in the midst of a good run and it’s too bad that’s it’s only now this is happening, but we are showing a lot of pride to finish the season strong. We came into the game with a good mentality and we fought hard in order against a team like this.”

Trevion Williams also reflected on the win, “Just a great feeling and any time you win it’s great. Other guys stepped up and got the job done. Our mindset didn’t change and we wanted to keep this streak going. We wanted to keep our foot on the gas and we wanted to play hard no matter the situation.”
Rokas Jokubaitis fed Trevion Williams for an alley-oop to begin the game for Maccabi Tel Aviv but Mike James, Elie Okobo and Daniel Theis countered for Monaco, but free throws from Will Rayman put the yellow-and-blue in front 21-18 after then minutes of play. James continued to score in the second quarter while Jokubaitis and Williams responded but Okobo and Theis found points as well to grab a 42-39 advantage at halftime.
