Maccabi Tel Aviv fell to Red Star Belgrade 99-92 as Code Miller-Mcintrye was unstoppable throughout the contest and helped his team to the win as the yellow-and-blue’s Euroleague record dropped to 2-6 after having been swept in the double week.

Miller Mcintyre was lethal for Sasa Obradovic’s team from the get go and together with Chima Moneke helped neitrazie Jaylen Hoard’s first half heroics to hand the Reds a 58-48 halftime advantage. Lonnie Walker started to cut into the lead while Jeff Dowtin did the same but Miller-Mcintyre and Ebuka Izundu made sure that Red Star would chalk up the victory.

Miller-Mcintyre scored 23 points and dished out 12 assists, Moneke added 16 points and Izundu scored scored 15 points in the win while Hoard scored 20 points, Walker put in 18 points and Brissett scored 12 points in the loss.

“We lost the game in the first half,” Maccabi Tel Aviv Head Coach Oded Katash said. “When we started with our intensity, we slowed them down in the second half with our switching defense but it wasn’t good enough. In the end we missed shots and we have to be consistent.”

“It was a real war and battle,” Red Star Belgrade Head Coach Sasa Obradovic said. “I think we deserve to win with a big heart and great rebounds. We started very well in the first half but we lost our rhythm in the third quarter but we found a good lineup to attack them and defend especially near the end of the game.”

Oshae Brissett spoke about the loss, “The second half we showed who we need to be and how we need to start games that the positive we can take from this. They are great team but we tried them and took the lead and we need to safety off with that intensity for each game that is coming up.”

Lonnie Walker also discussed the defeat, “They started off really well and we responded really well going into the second half as a team defensively and offensively. We are climbing and on the optimistic side we are showing that we are getting better and more mature and understand the game and the flow. We have to make some minor tweaks, but individually and collectively we are in a good place.”

Donatas Motiejunas scored inside and Codi Miller-Mcintyre nailed a pair from the outside for Red Star Begrade who began the game at a frantic pace, Lonnie Walker, Roman Sorkin and Oshae Brissett tried to keep Maccabi Tel Aviv close but more points from Miller-Mcintyre and Chima Moneke gave the visitors a 33-26 lead after ten minutes of play.

Miller-Mcintrye and Moneke scored to begin the second quarter, Jaylen Hoard responded from the outside and then a dunk on the inside, Dejan Davidovac and Moneke found points for Sasa Obradovic’s team while Yago Dos Santos scored as well to give Red Star a commanding 58-48 advantage at halftime.

Sorkin and Miller-Mcintrye traded baskets, Walker started to find points to close the gap, Nikola Kalinic and Semi Ojeleye went from downtown while Miller-Mcintyre filled the basket to his heart’s delight but Jeff Dowtin Jr. started to heat up for Oded Katash’s team to cut down the Red Star lead to 77-71 after thirty minutes of action.

Jimmy Clark opened the fourth quarter from deep, Brissett put in a 3-point play, TJ Leaf scored on a putback and Hoard found points but Ebuka Izundu scored a pair in the paint and then added even more points while Ognen Dobric drained one from behind the arc to wrap up the win.
