Maccabi Tel Aviv stayed atop the table with a 1-0 win at Kiryat Shmonain the country’s northern capital. Yonatan Cohen scored the only goal of the game on a 33rd minute penalty kick while yellow-and-blue keeper Daniel Tenenbaum set the Israeli league record for goalless minutes with 1003 breaking the one set by Giora Antman in 1988/89. The hosts saw two of their players sent off due to red cards in the second half.
After the Virtual Assistant Referee (VAR) had cancelled out a penalty in favor of the hosts, the yellow-and-blue were given a spot kick from 11 meters due to a Ziv Morgan handball in the box that Cohen promptly put into Džiugas Bartkus’s goal for the lone strike of the matchup. Tjaron Chery found the back of the goal in the 13th minute from 30 meters out as keeper Austin Ejide batted the ball into the net for a 1-0 lead. Nikita Rukavytsya scored the Greens second goal on a free kick that beat a slow to react Ejide while Yarden Shua capped off the victory with an 87th minute marker to wrap up the win.
Maccabi Netanya defeated Hapoel Haifa 3-1 at Sammy Ofer Stadium by the Carmel Mountain for their second win in a row thanks to a late second half brace by striker Fatos Beciraj. Gaby Kanichowsky opened up the scoring by putting the ball by Reds keeper Jasmin Buric from inside the box. But his Netanya teammate Aviv Avraham was sent off just at the stroke of halftime after a hard foul on Gidi Kanuk leaving Slobodan Drapic and Shay Barda’s squad a man short for a full 45 minutes.
Nes Zamir evened the game up for Haim Silvas’s side in the 66 minute but second half substitute, striker Fatos Beciraj came to the rescue ten minutes later. The Montenegrin marksman put home a Kanichowsky free kick off a Buric save and then added his second of the contest deep into injury time on a counter attack as Netanya took the 3 points back home.
Bnei Yehuda stunned Hapoel Beer Sheva 2-1 in the southern capital. Yossi Abuksis’s squad recorded the 3-points at Toto-Turner Stadium as Amit Zenati scored a second half brace to give the visitor’s a surprise comeback win. Ben Sahar opened the scoring for the host’s with a 38th minute penalty as central defender Alyson dos Santos handled the ball in the box giving Beer Sheva a 1-0 lead at the break. However, Zenati beat Beer Sheva keeper Ernestas Setkus to the far corner in the 54th minute and added his second of the game just shy of a half hour later to take home all 3 points.
Ashdod hosted Hapoel Kfar Saba to a dull goalless draw at the Yud Alef Stadium by the port city. Kfar Saba are now scoreless in four straight games while Ashdod haven’t won in three games as the sides split the points.
Hapoel Raanana and Sektzia Nes Tziona played to a 0-0 draw at the Moshava Stadium with each squad earning a point. Raanana’s Snir Shuker picked up a red card in the 54th minute due to a reckless tackle giving the visitors a man advantage. However, Nes Tziona’s Moussa Maâzou was given a red card 19 minutes later as Raanana remained winless in 9 matches, having not won since September 1st.
