Maccabi Tel Aviv Football Club and head coach Ronny Deila have reached a mutual agreement that he will take a leave of absence from his position immediately for personal reasons. Kenny Miller will be appointed as interim head coach.

Deila departed the country on Tuesday morning after having guided the yellow-and-blue over the past number of months as his assistant coach Kenny Miller will take over as the bench boss most probably through the end of the season which includes the State Cup final clash against Hapoel Beer Sheva near the end of May. Miller will coach his first game on Tuesday when Maccabi Tel Aviv hosts Hapoel Petach Tikva (19:30) at Bloomfield Stadium. “At a big club, it’s important to get back to winning quickly,” the Scot said ahead of the clash.

Ironi Tiberias stunned Ashdod 3-0 as Guy Hadida scored a second half brace to go along with a strike by Sambinha early in the first half to take the win and the 3-points to stay above the relegation zone while the port city squad dropped under the red line.

Tiberias Head Coach Eliran Hodeida spoke about his team’s crucial victory, “A very important result, but it still gives us nothing, next week is a game for an entire season. Even when points were deducted from us, we knew it was possible. If they hadn’t been deducted, everyone would be talking about what a season Tiberias had. Credit to the players who came focused and sharp they know how to play in these kinds of matches. “

Sharon Mimer, Ashdod’s coach, tried to analyze the loss, “There’s no doubt that in our situation, conceding a goal in the second minute from a corner is tough. After the goal, it took us a few minutes to get back into the game and then we conceded the second from a scramble in the box from a set piece.”

Kiryat Shemona blanked Hapoel Haifa 2-0 as an own goal by Dario Zuparic gave the northerners the lead while Wale Musa Alli added the second half insurance marker to close out the game.

Shai Barda, the Kiryat Shemona Head Coach spoke about the season he and the cub as experienced to date, “This has been my toughest season. I’ve been through a lot this year and it’s been difficult and exhausting. I think the achievement is tremendous because, in the end, a lower-table team isn’t judged by its defensive style. We are the sixth most attacking team in the league and we achieved that through football. It’s important to me that Kiryat Shmona’s story isn’t seen as a war movie, because there was football here and the league’s top scorer is here, along with other excellent players.”

Haifa bench boss Haim Silvas did not hide his disappointment, “We’re leaving here with difficult feelings. The journey to stay in the league is still in our hands, but it requires us to come mentally strong, to win with determination, and to secure our place.”

Maccabi Netanya slipped by Hapoel Jerusalem 1-0 as Matheus Davo scored right before the break to hand the diamond city squad the 3-points and the win.

Maccabi Bnei Reineh downed Bnei Sakhnin 2-0 as Vitalie Damascan scored in the first half while Muhamed Shaker found the back of the goal in second half injury time to close out the victory.
