Hapoel Jerusalem dumped Bnei Herzliya 98-77 in a one-sided affair. After a slow and sluggish first half in which the Reds held a 45-40 advantage, they came out on fire in the 3rd quarter to put away the game. Oded Katash’s squad dished out 29 assists with Tamir Blatt leading the way with 10 assists and 15 points, Tashawn Thomas added 18 points and 15 rebounds while James Feldeine clocked in with 17 points. Gabe Levin provided the offense for Herzliya with 23 points in the loss.
The visitor’s jumped out to a 22-18 lead after ten minutes thanks to 6 points a piece by Adrien and Levin while Thomas answered with 6 points for the Reds. Levin and Michael Dixon paced Herzliya in the second frame but Jerusalem took a 45-40 lead into halftime as Thomas raised his game total to 14 points.
The host’s moved into high gear in the 3rd quarter, outscoring Herzliya 30-17 to take a 74-57 advantage as Feldeine, Timor and Thomas inflicted the damage. The final frame was garbage time galore as Jerusalem wrapped up a 98-77 win.
Hapoel Holon picked up a win at home against Nahariya 78-72 thanks to superb play by guard Corey Walden who took the team in his back with 13 fourth quarter points. The visitor’s went into the final frame with a slim 58-56 lead as Iftach Ziv carried the load with 23 points, 10 rebound, 7 assists and 5 steals, but Walden’s heroics scoring the majority of his 21 points in money time made all the difference. Darion Atkins again recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds in the win and following the game Holon resigned veteran forward Guy Pnini to a 2-year contract.
Hapoel Eilat collected their 9th league win in a row defeating visiting Hapoel Tel Aviv 95-89. JP Tokoto and Suleiman Braimoh scored a huge 31 and 27 points respectively for Sharon Drucker’s squad. Tel Aviv’s Jamal Shuler and Stu Douglass led a late charge to cut a 21-point deficit to just 4 in the late stages of the game, but it wasn’t enough as former Red Rafi Menco put the exclamation mark on the victory with a big dunk at the end of regulation.
Maccabi Rishon Le’Zion needed overtime to recorded their 4th straight win across all competitions by beating Nes Ziona 95-93 on the road. Alex Hamilton proved too much for the host’s in the extra period as the guard excelled with 21 points while Cameron Long added 20 in the victory. Player of the month for December Tal Dunne and Chris Dowe with 28 points helped send the game into overtime but Rishon was up to the challenge to take home the win.
Hanan Colman’s double-double propelled Hapoel Beer Sheva to a 82-68 win over Hapoel Gilboa/Galil at Gan Ner. With a 47-25 rebounding advantage including 18 offensive rebounds, visiting Beer Sheva was able to cruise to the 14 point win. Colman drilled home six 3-pointers and pulled down 10 rebounds as Jordan Swing and Jake Donaldson also recorded double-doubles in the victory. Greg Whittington led the host’s with 28 points.
