Itay Shecter got the proverbial monkey off of his back and scored his first goal in over 8 months as he helped his new side Beitar Jerusalem to the well earned victory. Shecter had a hand both literraly and figuratively in both goals. He assisted on Nikita Rukavytsya’s first half strike and scored the late second half marker which he appeared to bat down with his hand to put the game out of reach and guaranteeing his club’s place in the upper playoffs.
Maccabi Haifa 4:0 Maccabi Petach Tikva
With Gili Vermouth now a Green, his new team have him a welcome gift by defeating Petach Tikva 4:0. Vermouth would score the last goal late in the game while Eliran Atar added a second half brace. Yossi Benayoun who was just named player of the month for January score in first half injury time as his marker would prove to be the winner.
Hapoel Beer Sheva 2:0 Maccabi Netanya
Beer Sheva went on to win yet another match as they disposed of Netanya 2:0 at the Toto-Turner Stadium. Beer Sheva coach Barak Bachar made a brilliant late first half tactical substitution introducing Ben Sahar for Matan Ohayon that made all of the difference. Sahar would assist on Captain Eliyaniv Barda’s first half strike and John Ogu would add a second half Golazo to send Netanya to yet another defeat while Beer Sheva will spend another week a top of the standings.
Hapoel Kfar Saba 1:2 Bnei Yehuda
Yossi Mizrachi’s side sent Sharon Mimer to his first defeat since becoming Kfar Saba’s coach. With Green’s keeper Ohad Cohen being replaced by Ben Rahav in the 37th minute, Bnei Yehuda tested the second choice shot stopper with a 41st and 45th minute headers that he would be unable to stop. Amir Agaev gave the visitors the 1:0 lead as he has now scored in three straight matches, while Dan Mori headed home his opprotunity in the 45th minute. Dudu Biton who just came over to Kfar Saba from Hapoel Tel Aviv scored in his debut to cut his side’s deficit but it would not be enough to draw even.
Hapoel Akko 0:0 Kiryat Shemona
Boris Kopitovic scored his second goal in as many gams as Akko picked up the valuable three points in their fight against relegation while Kiryat Shemona continues their poor form winning only once in their last five league games.
Bnei Sakhnin 0:0 Hapoel Haifa
In a match played at Eilot due to Sakhnin’s radius penalty the two sides went goalless as Haifa and Sakhnin each pick up a point.
