Israel U20 Men fall to Greece to finish 6th at Euros, U19 Women drop final game to South Korea to end tourney in 10th

The Israel Under-20 Men’s National Team fell to Greece 92-82 in their final game of the European Championship as Sharon Avrahami’s squad ended the competition in 6th place. The two teams played neck-and-neck for most of the first half, but Greece went on a late second quarter scoring spree to take a 9-point lead at halftime as they never looked back to take the win.

Omer Mayer started off the game with points while Alon Michaeli added baskets of his own as well, however, Konstantinos Soulis and Alexandros Samodurov countered for Greece to give their squad a 49-40 advantage. The Greek duo continued to score along with Neoklis Avdalas and Eleftherios Liotopoulos who also filled the basket as Michaeli and Rany Belaga tried to keep Sharon Avrahami’s team close. But points by Shachar Doron and Mayer couldn’t get the blue-and-white close enough as they dropped their last game of the 2025 European Championship by 10-points.

Michaeli led the way with 22 points, Mayer added 19 points while Doron scored 16 points in the loss. Samodurov scored 24 points as Liotopoulos and Avdalas each scored 14 points in thee victory.

The Israel Under-19 Women’s National Team ended the World Championship with an 86-80 loss to South Korea and finished in 10th place overall. Head Coach Tal Natan’s team stayed close to their opponents over the course of the first half and even led for a short time, but the South Koreans scored 29 points in the third quarter to take a comfortable lead which they held onto to take the victory.

Gal Raviv closed out an extraordinary championship with 28 points, Maayan Cohen added 16 points while Ayala Oren and Ofir Weintraub also scored in double figures with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
