Israel Basketball Round 9 – November 28-30, 2015

Ironi Nahariya jumped to the top of the league after defeating Maccabi Tel Aviv 76-70. The home side’s victory hinged on a big third-quarter which they took by a seven-point margin.

The hosts were led by Richard Howell who grabbed a big 18 points with nine rebounds, followed by Cameron Clark’s 16 points and seven rebounds. Devin Smith put in a big performance for the visitors with 19 points and 10 assists but it wasn’t enough to help his side to the win.

Maccabi Rishon LeZion took a narrow 77-75 win against Maccabi Ashdod. The hosts were led by Mark Lyons 25 points haul while Shaun Dawson netted 17. Diantte Garrett dropped a huge 32 points while Or Solomon pulled down 10 rebounds but it wasn’t enough for Ashdod.

Hapoel Jerusalem grabbed a narrow 81-79 victory at Hapoel Tel Aviv in an intense match which went right down to the wire. The Tel Aviv side were leading by eight points at half-time but threw it away as Jerusalem staged a comeback in the final 20 minutes. Tel Aviv’s Robert Rothbart led the scoring with a double-double – 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Bnei Herzliya took a 71-68 win away to Maccabi Kiryat Gat thanks to a big game from Olando Takar who put in 26 points with nine rebounds.

Maccabi Haifa picked up a big 74-57 win against Ironi Nes Ziona as Reginald Bakner picked up 17 points and 13 rebounds for the Greens.

Hapoel Holon grabbed a narrow victory over Hapoel Eilat, 81-78, as Aylann Solomon led the hosts to victory with 20 points. Netting 15 points each were Isaac Roosevelt and Will Kleiburg who also added double figure rebounds.
