Hapoel Jerusalem cruised past Aris 103-76 as the reds outscored the hosts 53-28 over the course of the second half to secure the victory. Six Jerusalem players scored in double digits with Khadeen Carrington, Justin Smith and Jared Harper all dropping 18 points in the win.
“First of all I think the players took responsibility on the situation,” Hapoel Jerusalem bench boss Yonatan Alon said. “We played aggressively the entire game but first half we made some mistakes, but in the second half we started out really aggressive, made some shots and kept up the intensity. At the end of the day, one of our things is that if we play intensively for forty minutes it pays off.”
Reds captain Yovel Zoosman who scored 14 points, also commented on the win, “We tried to play a bit faster, and I think we also shot at a very, very good percentage, which obviously helped us. But as I said, our emphasis was on playing a bit quicker, with more movement both with and without the ball and that led to us scoring at a much higher rate than in our previous games. Also, the fact that in the second half we defended much better and held them to 28 points was critical for us and made the game a bit easier toward the end. We’re trying to keep building on this and show what we’re capable of, because we have a lot of talent and we know what we have in our hands.”
