Franco’s Hapoel Tel Aviv looks to get back onto EuroCup winning track

Hapoel Tel Aviv gets back to EuroCup action as they ready for Prometey who they face at their home away from home in Belgrade on Wednesday (19:30 Israel time). The reds are coming off a Tel Aviv Derby victory over Maccabi in which they mounted a late fourth quarter comeback to take the win and they will now look to better their 11-4 record in continental action.

Danny Franco’s squad is still missing a number of their regular players including Jaylen Hoard, J’Covan Brown and John Holland who are unavailable due to injury but newcomers Will Cummings and Dez Wells have been well more than adequate additions as Hapoel tries to win the entire competition.

With Brain Angola and Tomer Ginat back in the lineup as well as Xavier Munford who scored all of his 17 points in the final frame of Derby, the Reds will no doubt be one of the teams who will be a threat to win it all.

However, Ronen “Neno” Ginzburg’s Prometey will be a big test for Hapoel and victory is far from guaranteed as they attempt to remain in second place ahead of London Lions.

“We are in the last stages of the Eurocup regular season,” Franco began. “We have a very tough game ahead of us against a team that is different than the one we played in the first round. They are in very good shape and from our side of things we want to continue with the momentum we had from the Derby and take another step forward ahead of the playoffs. I have no doubt that this game won’t be easy and I hope and believe that we will all know how to do what we need to.”
