Bnei Herzliya defeated Hapoel Beer Sheva 110-105 in an end to end battle that eventually saw Yehu Orland’s squad come out on top. Rami Hadar’s side had a tremendous first quarter that saw CJ Elleby, Brandon Angel and Yoav Vitlem give the hosts a 37-32 lead but Max Heidegger along with Chinanu Onuaku and Elijah Stewart help give the visitors a 64-55 advantage at halftime. Beer Sheva tried to keep the game close and leapfrog Herzliya by the end of the game with Cody Demps and Elleby playing critical roles, but points from Noah Carter and Daeshon Francis as well as the Heidegger, Onuaku and Stewart trio closed out the 5-point victory.
With the win, Herzliya joins Maccabi Tel Aviv, Hapoel Jerusalem and Hapoel HaEmek in the final four of the Israel State Cup.
Heidegger scored 30 points, Carter added 16 points and Stewart put in 14 points in the win whole Ellevy dropped 31 points, Angel chipped in with 26 points and Vitlem scored 15 points in the loss.
Bnei Herzliya Head Coach Yehu Orland spoke about the win, “Beer Sheva is a quality team with a great and experienced coach. We tried to take advantage of what our straights were going into this matchup but in a cup game anything can happen and statistics don’t matter, we are happy to be in the semifinals.”
Hapoel Beer Sheva bench boss Rami Hadar also commented on the game, “We didn’t defend and I have to look back at this game I am embarrassed. To give up 110 points at home is unacceptable.”
The game MVP Max Heidegger spoke about the win, “It’s great and all kind of came together, my teammates and coaches have been working with me and there is a lot of trust and now we are in the final four so anything can happen. It was a crazy game, guys talking everywhere and lots of emotions so that’s a cup game.”
