Blatt leads Jerusalem to Balkan League victory, Hapoel Haifa + Holon + Gilboa Galil all win! Recaps & Highlights!


Hapoel Jerusalem got by a game Hapoel Beer Sheva 90-77 in the capital city. The southern reds kept it close throughout the first half down just 38-36 after twenty minutes but Jerusalem’s firepower over the course of the second half was too much for Beer Sheva to handle. Suleiman Braimoh led Oded Katash’s team with 18 points and 7 boards, Malcolm Hill added 17 points and 4 steals, Tamir Blatt chipped in with 15 points and 7 assists while Tarik Phillip notched 11 points and 9 rebounds. Caleb Agada and Eric Griffin scored 13 points a piece while Natan Jurkovits added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the loss.

Tamir Blatt spoke about the victory and having to play the game without Idan Zalmanson and Adan Ariel along with J’Covan Brown, “It’s not simple and we have to stay healthy. But there are things that we can’t control. I hope they will be back soon so we can play more intensely and split up the minuets in order to stay aggressive throughout the course of the game.”

Hapoel Haifa defeated Hapoel Tel Aviv 94-90 as the Carmel Reds stayed in front throughout the 40 minutes of play. Keenan Evans led the way with 18 points and 7 assists, big man Igor Nestrenko added 16 points while Jason Siggers scored 15 points and Amit Simhon chipped in with 14 points in the win. Reggie Upshaw recorded a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds, Talib Zanna scored 17 points, Walter Lemon added 16 points and dished out 9 assists while Bar Timor scored 16 points in the loss.

Hapoel Haifa coach Elad Hassin spoke about the victory, “It feels good after a win, but we have a login way to go to get better as a team but we are going in the right direction.”

Hapoel Holon sunk Hapoel Eilat 94-76 in Balkan League action at the Red Sea City. Isaiah Miles starred for Stefanos Dedas’s squad as he hit 7/10 from beyond the arc for game high 24 points while Tyrus McGee and CJ Harris each scored 16 points in the win. Markel Brown led Ariel Beit Halachmi’s team with 18 points while Josh Nebo added 15 points in the defeat.

“This was a game where we had just great team chemistry,” said the star of the show Isaiah Miles. “We were a bit slow up until halftime but then we raised our level of intensity on both sides of the court.”

Hapoel Gilboa Galil dropped Nahariya 103-89 thanks to a dominant second half of basketball. Jehyve Floyd starred in his debut with 15 points and 11 rebounds, Kerry Blackshear added 14 points and 9 boards, Joe Thomas chipped in with 15 points while Iftach Ziv, Yotam Hanochi and Isaiah Cousins all had 13 points in the win. Joe Alexander led Danny Franco’s team with 27 points and 8 rebounds and Kalin Lucas scored 16 points in the loss.

Floyd who made his debut for the Galilee squad was thrilled with the victory, “I feel good that we won and I’m glad that I helped the team get the win in my first game.”
