Hapoel Beer Sheva moved to the top of the table with a 3-0 win over Hapoel Haifa at Sammy Ofer Stadium. The southern Reds received three goals by three different goal scorers to go level on points with Maccabi Tel Aviv but went into first place due to a better goal differential.
Coach Barak Bachar’s squad scored a goal just ahead of the break in the 45th minute to take a 1-0 lead when central defender Miguel Victor sent the ball right to Eden Shamir who nodded it home past Haifa keeper Jasmin Buric.
Ben Sahar scored off a rebound in the 52nd minute to give Beer Sheva a 2-0 lead. The third goal came less than twenty minutes later when Nigel Hasselbaink took advantage of critical mistake by Ben Vahaba who couldn’t properly clear the ball to score from inside the area to wrap up a 3-0 win.
Maccabi Haifa easily got by Sektzia Nes Tziona 3-0 away at the Moshava Stadium in front of over 9,000 traveling Green fans. Mohammed Awad was the star of the show for the Coach Marko Balbul’s side scoring a goal and assisting on another after entering the match as a second half substitute.
Following a goalless first half, Awad crossed a beauty of a ball to striker Nikita Rukavytsya and scored his fifth goal of the young season in the 65th minute, less than a quarter hour later, Dolev Haziza scored his second in as many games when he took an Ernest Mabouka pass and gave Haifa a 2-0 lead. Balbul’s crew added a third goal in the 81st minute thanks to Awad as well as the VAR (Virtual Assistant Referee) which confirmed the strike to give Haifa an important win and three points.
Maccabi Tel Aviv hosted Hapoel Hadera to a goalless draw at the new Bloomfield Stadium. The yellow-and-blue controlled the tempo and pace of play throughout the contest but couldn’t find a way past the stingy Hadera defense.
Beitar Jerusalem visited Maccabi Netanya and took home a convincing 3-0 win with all three goals coming in the first half of action at the Netanya Stadium. Levi Garcia sent Gadi Kinda a marvelous ball in the 19th minute that the latter put home into the top left hand corner of Dani Amos’s goal to give the Capital City side a 1-0 lead.
Garcia once again played catalyst on Beitar’s second strike when he was pulled down by Dolev Azulay in the box good for a Shai Konstantin penalty goal in the 33rd minute. Shlomi Azulay then put home an Ali Muhammad assist for Roni Levy’s side’s third goal in less than 25 minutes as the yellow-and-black took all three points ahead of the National Team break.
Hapoel Tel Aviv and Hapoel Raanana played to an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Moshava Stadium. Ido Levy gave the Menachem Koretzky’s Raanana side a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute thanks to a header that beat Reds keeper Yoav Gerafi, but Hapoel found the equalizer ten minutes later via a Demba Camara penalty.
Francis Kyeremeh gave Niso Avitan’s Tel Aviv a 2-1 lead off a scrum in the box early on in the second half, but Ranaana drew even in the 80th minute when Karem Arshid out home a Yoav Tomer cross to split the points.
Hapoel Kfar Saba edged Bnei Yehuda 1-0 on a 6th minute own goal. Boubacar Traorè sent a cross into the Bnei Yehuda box that deflected off of central defender Allyson Dos Santos giving the Kfar Saba the lone goal of the contest and the three points.
Kiryat Shmona dropped Ashdod 2-0 to record their first win of the season. James Adeniyi and Marcus Diniz scored for the northern side to take all 3 points.
