Beer Sheva falls to Leverkusen, Maccabi go down to Villarreal plus all of the Israelis Abroad in European play

Hapoel Beer Sheva fell to Bayer Leverkusen 4-2 at the Moshava Stadium as a brace by Elton Acolatse was canceled out by a pair of goals by Leon Bailey as the Bundesliga side took the 3-points. Beer Sheva is now in 4th place with Slavia Prague in first followed by Leverkusen and Nice as Slavia Prague defeated the French squad 3-2.

Bailey opened the scoring with an early 5th minute goal but Acolatse scored his first six minutes later and his second in the 25th minute on a terrific individual play in the box to give the southern Reds a shock 2-1 lead. Leverkusen coach Peter Bosz said after the game, “We didn’t play well in the first half. We can be happy that it was only 2-2 at the break. We did things better in the second half – pressed better, let the ball do the running, and deservedly won in the end.”
