Hapoel Jerusalem began to welcome their foreign players to Israel as newcomer David Roddy along with Dusan Militec and Head Coach Sasa Obradovic arrived at Ben Gurion Airport for the new season.

Roddy joins Jerusalem after having played in the NBA and the G-League as the 25-yaerd old will make his first overseas venture with the Reds. Having played more than 170 games in the “World’s Greatest League’” Memphis, Denver, Phonix, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Houston, the Colorado State forward was selected by the 76ers in the first round of the 2022 NBA Draft.

After picking up his bags, Roddy shared his initial thoughts about coming to the Holy Land, “I’m feeling good, feeling good. It’s been a great day. Very long day, very eventful day. So, very happy to have both my feet on the ground and excited to get started.”

Jerusalem will be competing in the EuroCup this coming season with the goal of winning the competition and then moving up to the Euroleague next year which is something that Brissett is excited about.

“It’s great and I love it. The main goal for us is to win the EuroCup and get into the EuroLeague and we have such a great and talented roster at such a great historical club to do that so I’m very excited to get to work and excited to see where we go.”

As for adjusting to the style of European ball after having played in the NBA the past few years, Roddy understands that this is something he will need to focus on, “It’s going to be an adjustment for sure. I think I was really lucky to be selected for the World Cup qualifiers last February. So I got a little bit of a taste of what it might be like in Europe and it was very fast-paced, very physical and it’s going to suit my game a little bit better than the NBA. So, I’m very excited to get on the court.”

Roddy brings plenty to the floor and he’s looking forward to having the chance to show what he can do, “You’re going to see a competitor and you’re going to see someone who’s very versatile, can pass, dribble and shoot and defend and hopefully makes winning plays. Someone who does anything that the coach wants, as well as what the team needs to win and a vocal leader as well.”

Serbia center Dusan Miletic also spoke about signing with Hapoel Jerusalem, “I’m excited about the season, the new team, the new club. I hope we’re going to achieve our goals and I hope we’re going to make this club grow even more. For myself, I expect to help the team, to help the team win more games, to become a better player. I really want to show the club and the fans that I deserve the chance to be here. I know they have crazy energy and I cannot wait to play in front of them.”

Coach Obradovic talked about getting ready to go, “First, I’m looking forward to start. I’m really excited for the beginning of the season. I’m really thankful for the president Matan Adelson and the management who created an amazing group of people who can attack. I believe our wonderful fans will enjoy the season and I am really looking forward to start.”
