Maccabi Tel Aviv overwhelmed Maccabi Rishon Le’Zion 89-72 as the Yellow & Blue controlled the game from the get go to easily take the win. Ante Zizic was a force inside with 20 points and 9 rebounds for Maccabi that saw six players score in double figures.
Zizic ended the night with a game high efficacy rating of 39 while Elijah Bryant scored 15 points, Chris Jones added 13 points and Omri Casspi chipped in with 11 points to notch the victory. Noam Avivi scored 16 points, Golan Gutt added 13 points and Jeremy Pargo scored 12 points in the defeat.
Elijah Bryant had the hot hand for Maccabi Tel Aviv in the first quarter as the guard scored early and often while Omri Casspi added points as well but Golan Gutt kept Rishon Le’Zion close down 22-18 after the opening ten minutes. Chris Jones picked up the scoring for the Yellow & Blue while Jeremy Pargo and Darryl Monroe countered for Guy Goodes squad but Bryant kept pouring in points while Casspi and Ante Zizic did as well to give Ioannis Sfairopoulos’s team a 43-34 lead at halftime.
Scottie Wilbekin worked the outside while Ante Zizic handled the inside to get the third quarter underway as Noam Avivi and Akil Mitchell tried to keep Rishon close, but TJ Cline and Jones gave Maccabi a 67-47 advantage after thirty minutes. Oz Blayzer scored against his former team, and Zizic added points while Noam Avivi did his best to keep Rishon hanging around but the Yellow & Blue cruised to a 17-point victory.
Hapoel Beer Sheva downed Nes Ziona 93-89 to exact a measure of revenge from the last time the two clubs met just a couple of the weeks. Rami Hadar’s southern squad controlled the game from the get go, but Brad Greenberg’s crew took a late lead with a minute to go in the game. However, Caleb Agada once again grabbed the bull by the horns to go along with fine play by Eric Griffin down the stretch to will their team to the 4-point win. Agada led all scorers with 32 points, Griffin added 21 points while Spencer Weisz scored 12 points and his Princeton teammate Amir Bell chipped in with 10 points in the win. Braian Angola scored 24 points, Patrick Miller checked in with 21 points and Jerome Meyinsse scored 19 points in the loss.
Hapoel Gilboa Galil dunked Hapoel Haifa 96-79 to get back onto the winning track as six players featured in double digits for Avishay Gordon’s squad. The hosts jumped out to a 31-18 lead after the first quarter with strong play inside by Kerry Blackshear and Netanel Artzi on the outside as they never looked back to score the victory. Blackshear scored 18 points, Netenal Artzi added 16 points, Thomasson chipped in with 14 points and Jehyve Floyd scored 13 points in the win. Rakeem Buckles led Haifa with 20 points as Karam Mashour and Amit Simhon each scored 13 points as the carmel reds shot only 3/22 from deep in the loss.
