Hapoel Tel Aviv demolished Maccabi Rishon Le’Zion 104-79 in a game that was never in doubt for the Reds as they picked up their first win of the season. James Young played center stage for Danny Franco’s squad as he came out strong with 23 points to lead the way to the victory. J’Covan Brown added 16 points and Bar Timor chipped in with 15 points in the win while Egor Koulechov with 17 points and Kris Clyburn with 16 points were the high scorers for Guy Goodes’s team.
“It feels good to get a win,” James Young said following the game. “We started off a little slow but we played to have fun and have a deep depth chart. It’s big watching the youngs guys, they are working very hard in practice.”
Bnei Herzliya downed Hapoel Haifa 90-81 as Oren Aharoni’s club controlled the game from the outset to take the win. Chris Babb scored early and often for Herzliya which featured five players in double digits as Andy Van Vliet also drilled home an important triple late in the final frame to secure the win. Babb led the way with 31 points, Van Vliet added 17 point while Quinton Hooker and Sandy Cohen each scored 11 points as Sha’marcus Kennedy checked in with a 10 point and 13 rebound double-double. James Thompson scrod 16 points, Gregory Vargas chipped in with 15 points and Kadeem Allen scored 14 points in the loss.
“It was a great win in front of our fans,” the game’s MVP Chris Babb said. “We stayed together the entire game. Everyone who played had a huge impact on the game and I think that’s what makes us a challenging team. Anyone on our team can have big moments.”
