Yam Madar readies for 2022 Eurobasket after season abroad

As the Israel National Team readies for Eurobasket 2022, guard Yam Madar who plies his trade for Partizan Belgrade looked ahead to the tournament along with also talking about how his year in Serbia that has helped him grow as a player who perhaps one day will play in the NBA with the Boston Celtics who selected him in the 2020 NBA Draft.

“Coach Željko Obradović prepared me as to how to play a certain style and he helped me on the court as he sees the court. I want to take some of those things that I learnt with me including the pick and roll along with everything else he really showed us from A to Z.”

Madar also spoke about the excitement of playing in his first Eurobasket, “This is my first European championship and it’s an honor to do so at such a young age. I’m really excited. I can’t wait and as a player you want to play against the best players in the world and I am ready for that challenge.”

The Beit Dagan native talked about the special on and off the court relationship he has with Deni Avdija with whom he wont 2019 Under-20 European Championship with, “The connection with Deni is something amazing which began when we were much younger. We have really enjoyed the time together and we can now prove if we can succeed at this at this level.

Madar is still looking at his future and of course he hopes that one day he will be able to play in the NBA just like Avdija, “I’ve always dreamed of the NBA and I’m not really looking that much at it right now. I’m learning something new every day when I’m with Partizan, slowly but surely.”
