Hapoel Holon will face Spanish side Tenerife in the semi finals of the Basketball Champions League Final 4 event on Friday. One of the main players Holon coach Guy Goodes will need to prepare for is Kyle Wiltjer. The 6’9 Forward held an interview with Sportsrabbi.com ahead of the important game vs. the purple and gold Holon side.
On being able to take play in the upcoming Champions League Final 4 Kyle said:
“I am very excited, the opportunity to play in this event is remarkable, so I am really excited.”
Kyle spoke about the main keys for the game vs. Holon:
“There are many keys- play hard play defense. We will get into specifics with Holon in the upcoming days but they have a good guard, very scrappy and very fast. We have to be ready.”
Kyle spoke about their fans:
“We’re not sure how many fans will be there, Canary Islands is quite away from Spain so we hope they are there but we will have to wait and see.”
On the possibility of winning the Champions League:
“We can go all the way, we have to have confidence that we can win a game like this, absolutely.”
On his current team, Tenerife:
“It’s been great. I played in Spain one time before, it is a high level. In the offseason I knew they were a good team and we made the Final 4. It’s a beautiful area with high level basketball. we have such a good well balanced and coached team. It’s great playing here.”
Kyle mentioned something some may not know about him:
“I have a one year old daughter, so pretty much after practice I play with her.”
The Tenerife forward discussed his team goals and personal goals:
“For our team it’s to hopefully win the Champions League and to be competitive in the ACB, it’s a tough league so we need to be ready to play hard. Personal goals come after, I want to win championships- that’s the main goal.”
