Gili Lustig, CEO of the Israel Olympic Committee, spoke about the importance of supporting Israeli sports even amid war. “We all know that Israel is currently in a state of war,” he said, “but I believe that, like any institution focused on achievements, after the extraordinary progress we made at the Olympic Games in Paris—where we achieved phenomenal results of seven medals under such conditions—it’s clear that Israeli sports not only shouldn’t face cuts but should actually receive additional funding.” He emphasized the rising costs of travel and the importance of continuing to support Israeli athletes.

Lustig further noted the unique role Israeli athletes play internationally. “There are no better ambassadors than Israeli athletes,” he stated. “Whether they win or not, when the Israeli flag is raised, it carries a message, a kind of victory, especially during these times.” He also highlighted the campaign theme, “I Stand Ready,” underscoring the athletes’ dedication to their sport and country amid Israel’s current situation.
