Manor Solomon made his English Premier League debut with Fulham in a stunning 2-2 draw against title favorites Liverpool as the Craven Cottage faithful were thrilled with the Israeli’s first appearance.
The winger arrived in England after three seasons with Ukrainian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk in what was a lengthy transfer process due to the current conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Howvever, less than 24 hours after his debut, Solomon reportedly suffered a knee injury that may keep him on the shelf until December just after the World Cup.
Solomon entered the match in the 66th minute immediately after the visitors had drawn even at 1-1. Following the game, the Sabra spoke about his debut with a huge smile plastered all over his face.
“It’s very exciting and I was already getting ready for this opportunity since Thursday night when I was notified that I would be able to play. When the manager called on me to enter the game, I was ecstatic as I had wanted this so, so much. First game in the Premier League against one of the best clubs in the world. We recorded and excellent result despite even having a chance to win, but we will continue on.”
Solomon spoke about the difficulties he endured over the past number of weeks to finally get to the point that he could play, “I always wanted to play against a team like Liverpool and I had quite a tough month to finally get here. I got to Fulham and I couldn’t play in the friendlies, then I came down with COVID so my preparation wasn’t ideal. But I am happy that I am here and I hope that I will be able to contribute a lot.”
The winger then talked about the challenges that lie ahead, “This is the most intense league that there is and I can feel that during training sessions as well. It’s not easy but I am getting used to it. I always wanted to play in the Premier League and I believe that I can adjust to the play here and I hope that I will continue to improve.”
Finally, Solomon reflected on the game that was, “The point we recorded against Liverpool gives us a lot of confidence and we played a terrific game against one of the best teams that there is. We created plenty of chances and we held them to just a few. We all understand what our goals are and we are trying to build a strong team that will be able to remain in the Premier League. We want to play quality football and not be afraid of any other club.”
