Maccabi Tel Aviv welcomed their final two imports for the upcoming 2024-25 season as Wenyen Gabriel and Daryl Macon both arrived in Israel raring to go as the yellow-and-blue faithful were thrilled to greet them at Ben Gurion Airport. Gabriel who is 27 years old, is coming off of a summer that was full of action as the big man featured for South Sudan in their Olympics debut in Paris after stops in the NBA, G-League as well as Puerto Rico.

The 28-year old Macon, who will return to action in a few months, played in China this past season and has made stops with various European clubs as well as having played in the NBA and G-League.

“It’s a blessing,” a thrilled Gabriel said upon being mobbed by the supporters. “All of the fans here meeting us at the airport is something that you don’t experience everywhere. It’s almost like a welcome home and it’s my first time here, so I appreciate the fans and we’re going to give everything we got this season.”

“I heard nothing but good things, everyone told me they love being here and about Tel Aviv, and I’ve just heard positive things. I’m here to experience and I’m hoping for a new experience. I’m looking forward to the competition, this is why I play basketball. I’m a competitor, and I’m happy to be able to be in a city like this, especially the welcome here that everybody showed me how much the fans care about basketball and about this club, so I appreciate the energy.”

Macon added and spoke about getting back on the court, “I’m excited. I think we’ve been trying to get this deal dome for 3 pr 4 season, right? I’m just excited to be here. Just want to win and build a bond with these guys. I don’t have a set date [when he is coming back]. My main goal is just to get healthy now hopefully as soon as possible, I don’t want to sit out. I don’t want to put a date on it, but I’m shooting for November. We’ll see how it goes.”
