Manor Solomon experienced a crazy 24 hours which resulted in the Israeli winger heading to La Liga outfit Villarreal on loan for a season from Tottenham in the last few minutes of the summer transfer window.
The Israeli international, who just joined up with the national team in Chișinău ahead of the squad’s World Cup qualifier against Moldova, looked as if he was heading to Crystal Palace in the English Premier League but quickly enough his fate was sealed in a shock move to the “Yellow Submarine”.
Solomon will wear the #6 shirt on a one season loan with no option to buy at the Estadi de la Ceràmica will head to his new team club team after the second match of the window in a “home” tilt against Italy in Debrecen, Hungary.
The 26 year old, who will also play in the Champions League with Villarreal, spoke about the move and what he had to endure over the 24 hours before finding out where his new home will be for the 2025/26 camaoign.
“In terms of football, these were the craziest 24 hours I’ve ever had. I left London around 6 in the morning, knowing I was staying there and then, when I landed, chaos began until midnight. In normal situations, you think things through, analyze, talk to whoever you need. In a situation like this it’s different, there’s not much time to analyze and you have to make quick decisions.”
Solomon went on to talk about selecting to play at Villarreal, “The goal was to stay in England. I was supposed to stay there and once I realized I wasn’t staying at Tottenham, I was very close to Crystal Palace. I said that if I do leave England, then it should be to an amazing place like Villarreal, in La Liga, the second-best league and also in the Champions League, with a very strong team. I’m very happy.”
As for focussing on the upcoming pair of national team games, Solomon wasn’t concerned, “I’m a professional player. I know when it’s time to switch focus and I’m ready for that.”
