Maccabi Tel Aviv 0-0 Maccabi Haifa
The game of the year, well actually the 10th game of the year as the Israeli media likes to call all the big matches throughout the year was more of a dud than anything else. A dry 0-0 draw which was a result that Tel Aviv was happy with holding their 10 point lead over the club from Haifa was enough to satisfy coach Oscar Garcia and enough for Haifa to hold their heads high. Many players from Tel Aviv came back from National team duty and Garcia only had two days to prepare his players so the draw was the best possible result he said he cold have expected. Tel Aviv plays in Kiryat Shemona and Haifa takes on Ramat HaSharon at home in mid week action.
M.S. Ashdod 2-2 Beitar Jerusalem
In a match of two halves, Ashdod took a 2-0 lead on an own goal by Eli Dasa in the 12th minute and Bentzi Moshal’s 35th minute strike. Beitar looked dead in the water but got one goal back in the 41st minute by Captain Amit ben Shushan who also added a second mark at the 65th minute. Jerusalem poured on the pressure for the last 25 minutes but could not come up with the game winner.
Ramat HaSharon 0-1 Hapoel Tel Aviv
Hapoel Tel Aviv picked up the slim victory on a 54th minute goal by Toto Tamuz. Tel Aviv is looking to head into the Europa League and the valuable 3 points will help their effort.
Bnei Yehuda 1-1 Kiryat Shemona
Nenad Marinkovitch helped Bnei Yehuda split the points with Kiryat Shemona with an 89th minute strike canceling out Shir Tezek’s 77th minute goal. Bnei Yehuda hosts Hapoel Tel Aviv in a mid week clash in the upper playoffs.
Hapoel Ramat Gan 1-1 Hapoel Beer Sheva
Ran Yitzhak scored in the 61st minute for the hosts as Dovev Gabay tied it up in the 67th minute to give the visitors a valuable point in trying to avoid relegation in the lower playoffs. Both clubs in danger of going down to the 2nd division are above water and battled it out to the end of the match trying to snatch the victory in a well played game.
Hapoel Akko 2-0 Maccabi Netanya
New/old Netanya coach Reuven Atar has a lot of work to do in order for his club not to be relegated in a disasterous 2-0 loss to a surging Akko. Nebojsa Marinkovitch scored a pair including a penalty in the 64th minute to lift Akko as the 1000 travelling Netanya supporters headed back south disappointed and shaking their heads as their team continues to plummet.
Bnei Sakhnin 0-0 Hapoel Haifa
Not much action in this 0-0 draw played in front of 3,000 fans and away from Bnei Sakhnin’s home stadium in a radius match. Guy Tzarfati was the star of the show but was unable to produce any goals for the visiting Haifa squad.
