Plethora of signings as Israel Basketball’s silly season begins

The Israel basketball season may have come to an end, but the silly season has just begin with signings galore and a plentiful amount of transactions and rumors are filling up the social media networks.

Let’s take a look at all of the recent moves.

Coaches

Amit Sherf joined Nes Ziona after having coached his first full season with Hapoel Holon last year.

Yehu Orland becomes the new bench boss at Bnei Herzliya and will make his first division debut on the sidelines after coaching Maccabi Raanana last season.

The Coach of the Year award winner Sharon Avrahami moves from Kiryat Ata to Hapoel Gilboa Galil.

Eldad Bentov moves from the assistant post at Kiryat Ata and becomes the new head coach.

In addition, Yonatan Alon had the interim coach tag lifted as he was appointed as Hapoel Jerusalem’s head coach while Dan Shamir was named general manager after having been the Bnei Herzliya head coach last season.

However, Bnei Herzliya have issued a statement that Shamir is still under contract and had requested to take a break which they agreed to. He has not been released from his contract and won’t be unless they receive compensation.

Players

Point guard Joe Ragland joins Hapoel Tel Aviv after a season in Greece with Peristeri. The floor general previously played for Hapoel Holon where he helped the club win the 2022 league title and also featured for Hapoel Eilat.
