Hapoel Tel Aviv will wear pink kits for the sixth consecutive year as part of its Breast Cancer Awareness Month campaign. The men’s first team will don the special jerseys against Ironi Tiberias on Saturday, while the women’s team will wear them against Hapoel Katamon next Thursday and the youth team against Hapoel Jerusalem on Wednesday.
The club’s campaign aims to raise awareness of breast cancer and the importance of early detection. As part of the initiative, players from the men’s and women’s teams took part in a photo shoot with five breast cancer survivors who volunteer with the One in Nine non-profit organization: Osnat Uliel, Danit Glazer, Hiliat Vebman-Shamai, Shlomit Laufer and Daniela Fink-Naimark. The club will also hold a pregame ceremony with the survivors to encourage women to get screened, emphasizing the campaign’s message: early detection saves lives.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is observed every October to raise awareness of the importance of prevention, early detection and treatment. Although breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women in Israel, 90% of patients may recover if the disease is detected at an early stage.
The One in Nine organization, together with Assuta Medical Centers, has developed a risk assessment questionnaire that all women over the age of 25 are encouraged to complete. Recommendations for further action depend on the woman’s age and the risk level identified through the assessment, and are provided upon completion of the questionnaire.

Club CEO Guy Primor said: “We are proud and excited to continue the tradition of wearing pink jerseys across the club’s various departments. This is an important issue, and our partnership with One in Nine grows stronger with each passing year. I join the call to action: complete the questionnaire on the One in Nine website and get screened. Early detection saves lives.”

Shlomit Laufer, a breast cancer survivor and volunteer with One in Nine’s “By Your Side” program, shared her story, “I am 39 years old. I was diagnosed at the age of 30 after discovering the cancer through self-examination. That is a very young age and even my doctor couldn’t believe I had the disease. Eight years after recovering, and thankfully with everything going well, I volunteer with One in Nine, an incredible organization that supports women with cancer, connects them with volunteers and helps spread their stories.
“This partnership with Hapoel Tel Aviv is deeply moving. We are happy to be here and grateful for the opportunity, and we encourage all women to get screened because it saves lives. I know that from personal experience.”
Neta Oron, who oversees community relations and support groups at One in Nine, added, “Early detection is important. It’s not just a statistic, it saves lives. We encourage every woman over the age of 25 to complete the risk assessment questionnaire. After completing it, you should consult your treating physician, who will determine your follow-up and monitoring plan.”
