Kendale McCullum joined Maccabi Ramat Gan for the 23/24 season after having played in both Germany and Lithuania last season. The 27-year old point guard attended Lewis University and in his final year in college averaged 16.4 points, 6.3 assists and 5.5 rebounds before setting off on a career which saw him play in Germany, Finland as well as Lithuania. This past campaign which began in Hamburg, McCullum scored 15.8 points and 5.4 assists with Hamburg in the German league along with 11.9 points and 5.7 helpers in EuroCup play while he averaged 8.7 points and 3.8 assists with Rytas in Lithuania.

“Kendale McCullum is a quick point guard with plenty of talent and has experience in Europe where he impressed in Germany and Lithuania this past season. We’re expecting that he will bring the same talent here and help lead the team to the playoffs,” head coach Shmulik Brenner said.

In his first exhibition game of the season McCullum scored 15 points, dished out 10 assists and grabbed 5 rebounds in Ramat Gan’s 93-86 win over Hapoel Holon.

To learn more about Kendale McCullum, The Sports Rabbi was in touch with a number of his former teammates:

Wisconsin-Parkside Teammate Jimmy Gavin: Very quick, agile player. Great instincts on defense to read passing angles and create deflections/steals. Can play at a good tempo on offense and set up the game for teammates. Someone who has worked and improved a lot to get where he is now.

Lewis Teammates:
Frank Vukaj: He’s is a phenomenal leader and even better person. He works very hard and does the job right on the court. Along with his basketball abilities, he’s a very genuine man. Truly one of a kind.

Delaney Blaylock: Kendale is a great player! I loved playing with Kendale!! He does all the little things very well… plays defense, rebounds, and is a great passer! He makes the game easier by him being able to get into the lane and make the right reads! He’s also a very humble person on and off the court!

Donovan Oliver: Kendale has always been a great leader on and off the court. Kendale has always led by example and it’s someone I’ve always looked up to. They’re lucky to be getting someone who’s as skilled and knowledgeable about the game as him. His teammates are going to love having someone they can open up to as well.

Paderborn Teammate Martin Seiferth: Personality: He’s a great guy! I really liked playing with him. He always looked out for his teammates and he’s a lot of fun to be around. He’s someone you want on your team. About his game: He’s very quick and hard to guard once he gets going. And like I said, he also looks out for his teammates and therefore likes to pass the ball too. I would say he’s going to be a great addition to Maccabi Ramat Gan’s roster.

Helsinki Teammates:
Porter Troupe: Kendale is a good young point guard. He sees the floor excellent, is extremely fast and is a great on ball defender. Great guy as well, in the locker room. Fun guy to be around!

Shawn Huff: Very explosive guard. Used his speed to get steals and in offense blow by defenders. Capable shooter but really loves getting in the lane and finding teammates. Easy to build chemistry with him on and off the court.

Giessen Teammate Bjarne Kraushaar: Kendale is a really nice guy with a great sense of humor, as a player he is always looking for his teammates first but can also create for him self. He is really quick and a great defender

Hamburg Teammate James Woodard: Kendale is a great playmaker. He’s a real competitor and plays with a chip on his shoulder every game. He’s aggressive on offense just as much as on defense. And he’s a great guy in person. A great guy for the locker room. He always looks out for his teammates. And he’s very coachable.

Rytas Teammates:
Justin Gorham: Team first type of guy. Cares about winning and not just individual statistics. He’s a guy who will set the tone of the game with his defensive presence on the ball. Great player but also a great guy he will be successful in the Winner League.

Tomas Lekunas: Only good words. great person, great teammate, always wants to win and of course talented player.
