Omer Shapira will be representing Israel this summer in the Tokyo Olympics in Road Cycling and will be competing in two different events in the upcoming Olympics: Women’s road race and Women’s time trial. Shapira holds the title of Israeli national champion in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, which is extremely impressive to achieve 4 times in a row. The 26-year old is currently riding for UCI Women’s WorldTeam Canyon-SRAM. In 2019, Shapira was able to finish 13th at the Women individual time trial event at the UCI Road World Championships and due to her recent results, the Israel Cycling Federation selected Omer to represent Israel in the upcoming Olympics. Shapira hopes to leave a good mark in the first Olympics that she will be taking part in, and hopefully will put a smile on faces of many Israeli supporters all around the globe.
