New Jewish Jordan Ryan Turell signs in Israel, Roman Sorkin tries his hand at the NBA + all the other transactions

The Israel Basketball League has had a very busy summer with signings galore as players have switched teams, come and gone while the market is just heating up with more action to come.

The biggest and most interesting move for the Jewish community in the United States is without a doubt Ryan Turell’s signing with Nes Ziona. The Yeshiva University product will join Head Coach Amit Sherf’s squad for the upcoming campaign as the Orthodox forward comes to the Holy and after two season’s in the G-League with the Motor City Cruise, the Detroit Pistons farm team. While his numbers were a modest 4.4 points and 1.9 rebounds per game for the pair of years, big things are expected from the new Jewish Jordan.

The other big story to follow is that of Roman Sorkin who will be looking to make the jump to the NBA from Maccabi Tel Aviv. The big man has steadily progressed over the past few years with the yellow-and-blue but Sorkin will also be turning 28 years of age in August which makes a potential move to the greatest league in the world that much more challenging. Sorkin will be playing with the Golden State Warriors Summer League team and he has been practicing with the club over the past two weeks. However, even if he can score a two-way contract with an NBA team, will that be enough to sway him from leaving Israel where he has some large contracts on the table with both Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Tel Aviv.
